Burdoin Mountain Fire Recovery Assistance

Burdoin Mountain Fire, 2025

INTRODUCTION

Dear Klickitat County neighbors affected by wildfire:

We know how hard it can be to be displaced by wildfire — some of us have been evacuated , or had family deeply affected by wildfire — and how overwhelming it can be to be faced with the emotional, financial, and physical loss of a fire. And then there's the paperwork, and the steep climb to repair or rebuild.

We know you can do it. We offer a few resources on this page that might be helpful — with a focus on dealing with the natural landscape and resources, vegation, water, and animals.

DAMAGE & ASSISTANCE SURVEY

Please consider filling out our assistance survey, to give us understanding  what wildfire impacts people are facing, and how to provide some tools and help to folks who have some repairs or rebuilding. The survey should take just 3-5 minutes. Here it is: Wildfire Assistance Survey 2025_UCD_BurdoinFire_Fillable.docx

If you're not up for a survey just now, but you have questions about natural resource concerns (water, irrigation, stream, farm/ag, livestock, fencing, forests, replanting/reseeding) - reach out directly by email to dan@ucdwa.org. We'll do our best to help you track down relevant information, advice, or programs such as cost-share or grant opportunities.

USEFUL WEBSITE: AFTER THE FIRE

This website has a great deal of information, arranged by subject, such as tip sheets and booklets for forest landowners, people with erosion concerns, and much more: https://afterthefirewa.org/

COUNTY RECOVERY & HEALTH LINKS

  • Re-entry kits for residents are available from the county — don't go into burned areas or structures unprepared. Also, water and septic system tipsheets here: https://www.klickitatcounty.gov/1644/Wildfire-Recovery

  • The County Public Health Department is asking people affected by the fire to take this short environmental health survey: "If you were affected by the fire, please take the Environmental Health Recovery Survey. Someone from the Health Department will reach out to answer questions you may have and assist in finding resources for debris disposal, hazardous waste cleanup, septic inspections, water testing, and more."
